Sixth Class visit to Ardkeen Library
Sixth class pupils visited the Ardkeen Library on June 21st for a Healthy Ireland talk with dietician Aoife Hearne. It was a very informative, enjoyable talk filled with lots of practical, healthy eating tips.
Visit to Dunmore East
Sixth class attended a sailing school in Waterford Harbour Sailing Club, Dunmore East for 3 lessons in June. Students were introduced to a variety of sailboats and powerboats. They engaged in and learned teambuilding skills, water safety skills, sailing terms and experienced at first hand the amazing local coastline features, such as sea stacks, caves, cliffs and rock strata. They had an incredible experience. Thank you to Waterford Harbour Sailing Club for facilitating these lessons. Also huge credit goes to our Parents Association who contributed to the funding of the lessons.
Visit to Tramore Beach
During Active Week the entire school took our buckets and spades to Tramore beach to play in the sand. Older students worked alongside our younger students to create sandcastle villages using the natural materials found on the beach. Creativity was in the air! We enjoyed lunch together at the beach. A great day out was hadn’t all with thanks to fundraising by the Parents Association.
Trócaire Poetry Competition
Congratulations to our 6th class pupil Seán, who is the overall category winner in the Primary Senior Category of the Trócaire Poetry Competition 2019 with his poem Beo’. Seán collected his prize in the National Library of Ireland on Wednesday, 22nd May. We are very proud of his great achievement.
Well done to our 4th class students who won ‘BEST INNOVATIVE IDEA’ at the LEAP Showcase Event in Waterford Institute of Technology. All our students did an amazing job of pitching their business ideas. They worked really hard and produced impressive business plans under the guidance of Peter, their Junior Achievement mentor.
