Our Friend Tadgh

It has been a very sad time for our school after learning of the sudden loss of our First Class student and friend Tadgh Kenny.
It is extremely difficult for us all to face the death of a child and it makes it even harder that we are not together at school to help and support each other.
Our school community extends its heartfelt condolences to all of Tadgh’s family and friends.

5th Class Bridge Exhibition

To celebrate Science Week 2019 5th Class had to construct different bridges with various materials.

5th Class got their inspiration from real life bridges, their imagination, research online and books…

We hope enjoy scrolling through our creations.

4th Class Science Project

For our project we used recycled materials to make wind powered vehicles. Some had lots of friction and some had very little friction. We made reports about our projects and we did an exhibition to show the other classes what we did. Mr. Daly brought a hair drier in to test our projects. Most of them used bottle caps for wheels and a couple used old wheels from toy cars and trucks. Some used straws and skewers for their axels.

School Incubator Project

In early February, an incubator with seven eggs was delivered to the school by Nore Valley Park. Each class was given an educational talk about the development and life cycle of a chicken and the hatching process. For 21 days we watched our eggs in the incubator and waited with egg-citement for something to happen.

On day 21, the eggs beagn to hatch. Once each chick hatched we left it in the incubator for a few hours to rest and dry out. After this time, and when it was strong enough it was placed into the brood box which had a heat pad in it to keep it warm.

We held a competition to name our adorable new arrivals. There was much excitement as we welcomed Martha, Jerry, The Yoker and Oreo to our school.
